  • Are siblings included if they do not live full time with the diagnosed child?
Half, full, and stepsiblings are all eligible for a sibling bag. We also include all children 18 years and under who are living with the child/teen regardless of genetic relationship. If the diagnosed child has a reasonable amount of contact with the sibling, and the custodial/involved parent can reasonably deliver the bag to the sibling, then the sibling can be included. We acknowledge there are a multitude of sibling relationships and family dynamics that exist and know that everyone closely connected to the child is impacted by cancer in different ways. Feel free to email us at thebutterflyboxproject@outllook.com with any questions.
  • Who qualifies for a Butterfly Box?
Anyone under the age of 25 can qualify for a box if they meet the following criteria: -In active treatment for a condition that is inherently categorized as life threatening. (i.e. Cancer, Organ Failure, etc.) "Active treatment" includes maintenance therapies. Those just completing active treatment may apply and be considered if funds are available. -In active treatment for a condition that is not inherently categorized as life threatening but meets one of the following criteria: -Has had a life-threatening complication such as sepsis within the past year -Has been hospitalized for at least 100 nights in the past 2 years
